Q: What are Free Withdrawals (also called Charge-Free Withdrawals)?
A: Free Withdrawals are amounts you withdraw from your Account Value without incurring Surrender Charges. (The amount withdrawn may still be subject to income tax, or early-withdrawal penalties, however.)
Usually, only a limited fraction (e.g., 10%) of your Account Value can be withdrawn in any one year. (The percentage will be specified in your Contract.) In some cases, only one Free Withdrawal is allowed per Policy year.
Any Withdrawal reduces your Account Value.
